Jon Schnepp is an American director, writer, and producer who has made original programming for Cartoon Network, FX, MTV, Nickelodeon, SpikeTV, and Comedy Central.

He graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA, winning 3rd place ranking of all BFA/MFA’s in awarded fellowships. He was also the Student Union President. Schnepp started his career as art director, animation director, and editor for MTV’s live action interactive movie Club Dead and then immediately moved into editing many episodes of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast back before Adult Swim was Adult Swim. He then went on to direct the pilot and multiple segments for The Upright Citizens Brigade on Comedy Central.

Jon then moved to Hollywood, California, to pursue further adventures in media. After working on many different projects in CA., Jon designed and created the band characters of Dethklok for Tommy Blacha and Brendon Small, and they sold the series to Adult Swim a few months afterwards. Schnepp went on to direct 34 epsiodes and co-produce on all four seasons of the megahit Adult Swim animated series Metalocalypse. Jon also directed over 15 animated music videos for the Dethklok live concert tour. Schnepp co-plotted and did covers for the new Dark Horse Comic Book Series based on Metalocalypse.

Jon has also co-directed season 4.1 of The Venture Bros., directed the Aqua Teen Hunger Force 3D origin, co-directed two episodes of Marvel’s The Black Panther, and wrote the three episodes produced for the Underworld animated series. He is one of the 26 Directors from all across the globe picked for the feature film anthology called The ABCs of Death. His segment “W is for WTF” is a high octane blend of horror and comedy, mixed into a multi-media meltdown.

Schnepp recently produced and ran a very successful Kickstarter campaign, raising over $188,000 to make the animated pilot episode for Zenescope’s Grimm Fairy Tales, of which he executive produced, wrote and directed.

Most recently, he directed and produced The Death of “Superman Lives": What Happened?, a feature length documentary about the unmade movie Superman Lives. This film, out of all the various attempts to make a Superman movie between 1987 and 2006, would have stood the test of time and become a bonafide cult classic nowadays. The film features interviews with many of the principal players, including comic book legend Grant Morrison, original screenwriter Kevin Smith and director Tim Burton.

Pensacon will present a special screening and Q&A with Schnepp at the 2016 convention!
