Claudia Christian is an actress, writer, singer, musician, and director known for her role as Commander Susan Ivanova on the science fiction television series Babylon 5. She made one of her most memorable performances in her feature film debut in New Line Cinema's cult classic, The Hidden, opposite Kyle MacLachlan. She went on from there to star in over 40 features including Clean and Sober, starring Michael Keaton and Morgan Freeman; the leading role of Hexina in Columbia's comedy Hexed; opposite Charlie Sheen in 20th Century Fox's The Chase; and as a photographer in Adam Rifkin's quirky feature Never on Tuesday. Fans saw Claudia at the box office starring opposite Steven Seagal in the action thriller Half Past Dead. Christian did the British sci-fi series Starhyke (2009), in which she played the lead role and also directed several episodes. Claudia also starred in the HBO movies Running Home and The Substitute 3: Winner Takes All, co-starring Treat Williams.
Making her mark in independent films, Claudia donned a fat suit and stepped into the rude and crude role of Elaine Kilgore from her hit indie film True Rights (2000). The film has won numerous awards. Additionally, Claudia starred in The Failures (2003), working again with acclaimed director Tim Hunter (River's Edge).
In addition to her film credits, Christian's work in television is extensive and includes the lead role as Commander Susan Ivanova in the Warner Bros. syndicated internationally-recognized top cult television series Babylon 5 (1994-1999). She has also starred in two TNT-produced TV-films based upon the series. Babylon 5 has developed an enormous European following and twice won the Hugo Award for best science-fiction television series. Christian received Sci-Fi Awards and Universe Awards best actress nominations for her role in the series.
In 2006, Claudia starred in the psychological thriller, The Garden (aka River to Havilah), co-starring Lance Hendrickson. Claudia moved to London in 2006 and starred in the BBC-TV series Broken News and did many independent films throughout Europe. She was nominated for a best actress award at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival for the play Killing Time.
She returned to Los Angeles in 2009 and did a well-received guest turn in Nip/Tuck, which led to her being cast in Showtime's edgy dark comedy Look.
She starred in the John Wells pilot Prodigy Bully in 2012 and did guest leads on the hit series Grimm and Criminal Minds. In 2013 Claudia released her memoir Babylon Confidential which went to #1 on Amazon and Kindle. Her new book Wolf's Empire, a sci-fi military YA novel, was released worldwide by Tor Books.
Claudia runs the non-profit foundation C3, which raises awareness about The Sinclair Method, a treatment for alcoholism. In 2013 she filmed One Little Pill, a documentary about TSM.
