Every species must find ways to understand and relate to its environment. Sentient species will (most likely) communicate complex ideas between themselves. But the experiences of one species are not necesarily the same as another, and the deveolpment of their language and forms of communication will definitely be different. This philosophical problem was explored by Star Trek in the TNG episode "Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra". This panel will discuss this episode and the overall difficulty of communicating with aliens.
