2016 marks the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. Since its inception in 1966, it has spawned four other live action TV series, an animated series, twelve feature films (with a thirteenth on its way), and countless books, comic books, and video games. This panel will discuss the philosophical ideals of the show's creator, Gene Roddenberry; the effects of Star Trek on culture, engineering, science, and technology; all the incredible fan films and fan fiction writers in the Star Trek community; and the various incarnations of Star Trek.
